Adoption Programs

Adoption Associates, Inc. works with agencies nationwide to provide adoption services for China, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Nepal, Russia, and Ukraine. Below you will find a description and links to more information about all of our programs.

China

China has one of the least expensive infant and toddler programs. The children available for adoption live in well-run orphanages, and are primarily female children nine months and older. It is also possible to adopt older and special needs children. Adoptive parents are required to travel in a group of families with a bilingual (English-Chinese) escort.

Ethiopia

Children available for adoption in Ethiopia range in age from infants to twelve years old. The program is one of the least expensive, and medical records are available for all children. Special needs children are also available, and more than one child can be placed at one time. The children live in orphanages and are available for adoption mainly due to overpopulation and severe poverty. Adoptive parents will be required to take one trip to formally accept their referral, but an escort is available to bring the child home after the adoption process is complete.

Haiti

Haiti places primarily healthy children who range in age from infancy to fifteen years old. Special needs children and sibling groups are also often available. These children live in two loving, well-run orphanages in Haiti’s capital of Port-au-Prince and are available for adoption due to overpopulation, lack of good medical care, severe poverty, or the death of their parents. Adoptive parents are not required to travel to Haiti. However, it is strongly recommended that one or both parents travel to bring the child home. An escort is available for families that are unable to travel.

Kazakhstan

Orphaned children in Kazakhstan reside in loving, well-run orphanages located primarily in the country’s northern and central regions. Most children are considered healthy and are available for adoption as young as seven months. Children with special needs are also available. Both parents must travel on the first trip, which typically lasts three to four weeks. During this trip, parents will accept the child and attend the court hearing. A two-week waiting period follows the court hearing. Parents may choose to remain in Kazakhstan for the duration of this time, or they may go home and return later to complete the case. If they choose to leave, it is possible for only one parent to travel back on the second trip.

Nepal

Nepal places primarily healthy infants and children up to six years of age. However, children with special needs are also available. Most children live in one of two small, well-run orphanages in Nepal’s capital of Kathmandu, where they are cared for by a house mother and nannies. Adoptive parents are required to make two trips to Nepal, each lasting approximately one week to ten days. It is possible for only one parent to travel on the second trip.

Russia

Russia places healthy infants, toddlers, and young children, as well as sibling groups, older children, and special needs children. The children live in excellent orphanages, some structured with a family setting, and are available for adoption mainly due to severe poverty and unemployment. Adoptive parents are required to take two trips. One or both parents may travel for the first trip, but both must travel for the second.

Ukraine

After Russia, Ukraine is one of the most popular programs for Caucasian children in international adoption. In contrast to many adoption programs, parents are allowed to choose the child(ren) they adopt from a database of available children. Ukrainian orphans are primarily healthy and range in age from eighteen months to fifteen years. Sibling groups and children with special needs are also available. Adoptive parents will take one trip to Ukraine that will last between three and six weeks. It is possible for two trips to be scheduled or for one of the parents to leave after the court hearing.
